Ayurveda is India's traditional healthcare system that believes in alternate medicines and natural holistic approach for physical and mental well-being.
As per Ayurveda, Nutrition, Sleep and Sex are the 'Three Pillars of Life'.
Ayurveda says that a proper balance of nutrition, sleep and sex can help in attaining a full-life span that is not cut short by illnesses.
Proper intake of nutritious food will help in healthy digestion, which eliminates all symptoms of diseases. Adequate management of rest and sleep can repair the damage done to the body due to physical and emotional stress. Adequate food and sleep can make you feel more energetic, thus having a higher sex drive and overall good health.
Here we are going to discuss in detail how sex is one of the three pillars of life in Ayurveda. Ayurveda acknowledges sexual activity as the natural urge of the body that provides stability to physical and psychological health.
Of course, Ayurveda cautions against too much sex, but it promotes sex for a happy and long life. The quality and depth of our relationships with our partner can lead to excellent sexual health. At the same time, Ayurveda also mentions the concept of Brahmacharya, which means to abstain from sexual activities to focus on studies and learning for the attainment of enlightenment.
Some guidelines by Ayurveda for a better sexual life are listed below:
In all seasons except summer, one can enjoy great sexual experiences once in three days. For summer, once in a fortnight is recommended. Sex should not be out of force or compulsion. It should give pleasure to both the partners.
Sex done at night time is preferable than day time. If one of the partners is not interested or not feeling well, sex should be avoided. Wanting to have sex is addressing your natural desires and hence, it should not be suppressed but instead communicated in the right manner to your partner. After having sex, it is suggested to take a refreshing bath and then sleep or take rest.
So, what are you waiting for? Find the right partner with whom you would love to eat, sleep and have sex regularly and lead a contented life. Having sex or not is entirely an individual's choice. Whatever one opts for, it should be in moderation.
