Time to talk about male ageing

Men find it difficult to talk to each other about experiences which make them feel vulnerable. So, while we can talk about a 90 minutes football match for 240 minutes, we tend to not share--even with close male friends--things like, say, that we are finding it harder and harder to sleep properly, or that we feel less strong than we once did, or indeed, that our sexual function is not quite what it used to be.

Often it is the steady drop in testosterone that is responsible for the most trying of these experiences. This male hormone peaks in early adulthood and starts dropping thereafter. The drop in men in their forties is 1% every year, and has been linked in various studies to 17 signs of male ageing.
