Can overwork affect your sex-life?

There is no doubt that to reach success, you need to walk the path of hard work. But too much hard work is called over-work, and that is not good for your mind, body, and soul. Over-work triggers stress, which not only adversely affects your professional life but also your romantic life. No, I am not talking about those no-sense fights with your partner or that urge of staying distinct because of being burned out, I am talking about the disaster that happens beneath the bedsheet.

According to a report published by the British Medical Journal, when researched, a group of men between the age group of 30 to 50, one-fourth of the total percentage was found battling the issue of loss of libido, with overwork and job stress being the culprits behind it. But, how to identify the state of burnout? Well, you can look for these three signs -

  • Irregular working hours - A definite indication that you are mistakenly overworking is the absence of work-life balance. Working late nights or at varied hours can severely hamper your sex drive. Apart from it, this habit can increase your risk of heart disease, neurological issues, and diabetes.
  • Lack of sleep - Irregular working hours, and lack of sleep, walk hand-in-hand. Men who work till late nights or on tight schedules, often fail to get a good 5-7 hours sleep. This can interrupt the body in producing melatonin, which influences the formation of testosterone in the body.
  • Constant fatigue - When you work more than your body allows, you enter in the state of constant fatigue, a headache, and nausea. This means that the internal function of your body is not proper, and when the machine is not working correctly, the production of hormones also gets disturbed.

Stress is indeed an infection, and sadly your sexual life is not vaccinated from it. Overwork and the tension associated with it can affect your intimate life and sex drive in more than one way, some of which are -

You don’t feel like having sex anymore - It’s very simple when you are anxious or burdened with a thought, you don’t feel like being responsive towards your relationship and the factors associated with it, especially intimacy.

It becomes difficult for you to stay aroused - though it’s your genital that functions during intimacy, but it’s your mind that commands the signals of arousal. However, when your mind is preoccupied with the issues of work, it is tough for it to release the ‘love hormone.’

Masturbation sessions rarely happen - No matter if you masturbate frequently, or at the moderate interval, but when overwork damages your sexual drive, the urge for jerking off vanishes. Masturbation and even sex happen in a state of calmness, and when you are stressed, you aren’t calm.

You get blank in bed - This is the most obvious sign that something is wrong with your command room. Sex is the act of continuous indulgence, and even when you are just enjoying an excellent oral by your partner, you are there, playing your role and being active. But when you are stressed, you can be having the best sex in the world but still get numb and no longer feel that exotic tension.

And now that you know this, remember - Too much work and a lot of stress, makes jack’s sex drive less...
