There are a number of products that are advertised using the term, "herbal viagra."

Technically this description is not justified because Viagra, the drug that revolutionised the erectile dysfunction treatment space in the late 90's in the US, acts through PDE5 inhibition, while herbal origin products have other mechanisms of potential action.

PDE5 is an enzyme that reverses the erection process. Being a product from western medicine Viagra and its equivalents, as also other PDE5 inhibitors, typically have some side effects.

Herbal products, on the other hand, are popular, in some part, as they have limited or no side effects. Therefore advertisements for "herbal Viagra" are in effect promising the best of both worlds, which is, as we know from experience, not likely to be true.

After the launch of Misters Bold, with Libiza(TM), a proprietary herbal extract, we have had our customers and consumers describing it as "herbal Viagra." This has created an interesting challenge for us, because while Misters Bold undoubtedly improves quality of erections, by improving cardiovascular function, the mechanism of action is not the same as of sildenafil citrate, the chemical that is known by the brand name Viagra.

We like to clarify this difference, but given that Misters Bold has such good results for erections, we think the description, "herbal Viagra," for it will stick around, even as we try our best to highlight the difference in mechanisms of action.
