The curry leaf, locally referred to as kadi patta, belonging to the Rutaceae tree family is a popular household herb native to both India and Sri Lanka. It is often used for both medicinal and consumption purposes, being rich in nutrients and minerals, also adding numerous flavours and aromas to foods prepared in these regions.

Be assured that once you have read this piece, you will make sure you consume and apply this herb, also called meetha neem by Ayurvedic practitioners, and gush about it’s benefits for your hair with fellow Misters. Let’s dive in…

Experiencing hair damage due to external factors such as pollution and exposure to chemicals in the environment is no new occurrence. Instead of feeling helpless due to things you think are out of your control, take matters into your own hands by using curry leaves. They have the ability to unblock hair follicles and restore natural functions of hair growth.

Studies conducted in the past have discovered that oils bearing about 7-9% of curry leaf extracts are said to induce hair follicle growth as fast as 6 days. Isn’t that marvellous? Shedding about 50-100 hair strands a day is, in fact, considered normal but this is when we discuss people with standard hair health. For patients of Androgenic Alopecia or Male Pattern Baldness, hair shedding of these amounts can be disastrous. The antioxidants in curry leaves improve blood circulation, strengthen hair follicles and moisturise your scalp, thereby preventing hair fall and loss.

Enriched with Vitamin C, phosphorous, calcium, iron and nicotinic acid, vast effects of curry leaves range from preventing hair thinning, correcting premature greying, protecting your hair shaft, controlling frizzy hair, eradicating hair dryness to doing away with dandruff and various scalp infections and impurities.

So how can you use it?

Take about 4-5 curry leaves, add a small cup of coconut oil to it and place it on an already boiling vessel full of water till the oil is heated too. Once you see the oil obtaining a blackish residue, it is ready to be massaged onto your scalp directly. For best results, use this oil mixture around 2-3 times a week.

You can thank me later. Goodbye!
