Recently a British startup in the same space as Misters, published its findings from a global study indexing erect penis lengths globally.

Before we get into the results—and we will—we must pause and wonder what the point of this is. It gets you in the news, yes, sure, but is there any point to this World Cup style competition? Scientific studies haven’t really found variations based on ethnicities, and nation states are increasingly ethically heterogenous. More and more races are living in more and more countries due to globalisation. Did the  researchers analyse for variations around this controversial parameter? The reports published seem to be quiet on this front.

Furthermore, some of the variations reported seem odd as certain borders are porous. For example Ecuador tops the list with an erect penis length of 6.93 inches, but what plausibly explains it apart from the quirks of sampling? Ethnicities are often spread around a number of nation states, and any effort such as this has to think about plausible causation.

The data is pressed in a sports tournament style ranking. Cambodia is at the bottom with 3.93 erect penis length. The variation between the top three and bottom three makes one wonder about the legitimacy of average as a parameter. It would have been more interesting if the report also published standard deviation of penis lengths alongside, as that would have given us a sense of whether the data is even fitting a normal curve. If it does not then averages don’t really mean much.

I am worried that such reports increase men’s insecurity around penis size which leads to large business for unscrupulous businesses making claims for their products.
