Baldness is a very common malady faced by the younger and the older generations alike. With time, Male Baldness Patterns have undergone a vast change.

A demographic study conducted in 2011 on MBP in India yielded results that were shocking, to say the least-"about 46 percent men between ages 21 and 31 suffered from MPB."

Swedish hair specialist Dr. Fred Zuli and Italian scientist Dr. Falvio Ferrari state mainly four causes for hair fall in men: unbalanced diet, extreme stress, pollution, and other vices. Although it is very common to shed 50-100 strands of hair a day, it doesn't take long before it becomes serious hair loss-alopecia.

Balding patterns can also be inherited genetically but premature balding is something that is caused by stressing more than needed or by exposing your hair to pollutants and other impurities.

Dermatologists and hair fall experts have been trying constantly to develop a panacea to tackle this menace and have been able to attain success to an extent. One such drug is Minoxidil. An FDA approved drug, that has been conceptualized to cure hair loss in men. Using this foam-based drug one or two times a day is expected to halt hair loss in men that occurs as a result of MPB and even restore hair growth if you use it as soon as possible every day without fail.

How does Minoxidil work? Originally the medicine was developed as a cure for hypertension that was to be consumed orally but after the patients were observed closely, they showed symptoms of hair growth on various body parts after which doctors started using it for hair loss. "As a hair loss treatment, it(Minoxidil) works by extending the growth phase of hair....in which it grows for about 1,000 days before it falls out", Dr.Lance Barazani, MD, a dermatologist at Advanced Dermatology in Roslyn, N.Y. observes.

Minoxidil 5% concentration is usually prescribed for men,  while the 2% variety is popular among women.

Young men who are in their 20s and are suffering from premature baldness can rely on this drug to regain their receding hairline as studies have shown that the medicine works best in young men as compared to men who are over 40. However, don't stop using it regularly as stopping it will stop the hair growth too.
