South Africa has a reputation—not unjustified—of being sexually conservative. And yet, news has emerged of a sex expo held in Pretoria over the last few days attended by more than 16,000 people.

Sensational. And themes included brilliantly explicit art, types of orgasms, use of toys, exploration of fantasies and all of it seemed to have brought in at the end with a male stripping performance.

From across the Indian Ocean, we have to admire the spunk, congratulate the organisers,  congratulate the attendees and wonder, a touch wistfully, whether we—here in India—can start imagining an event such as this. Can we? No? Yes?
