So yes, this was an episode—and one of the funnier ones—in F*R*I*E*N*D*S, but today we are not talking about the TV character.

Instead, this is about Matthew Perry, the actor who played the endearing joke-a-minute character.

In his new book, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” he mentioned that as a young person he experienced not getting an erection—after drinking six beers—and assumed that sex is not for him. In that phase he did not draw any correlation between the alcohol consumption and the event.

The actor has written rather candidly of his problems with alcohol and drug abuse, and generally erratic behaviour when it comes to romantic relationships.

There’s a lot there, but what our biggest takeaway is that there’s a certain joy in male celebrities addressing their vulnerability openly. For that we are happy with Matthew Perry.
