One of the easiest and most convenient forms of exercise is walking. Yet, more than often, it doesn’t get the respect it deserves. But the truth is misters; though it might not bulk up your biceps and triceps, walking does have a lot of other health benefits, especially sexual health!

As per health.harvard.edu, walking is a cardio exercise. You should do it hard enough to boost your heart rate to 70% to 85% of its maximum. And this should be done for al least 20 to 60 minutes to get optimal results. Repeating the workout at least three times a week is highly recommended:

  • Lower risks of ED/ Impotence

Research shows that walking 4000 steps a day can maintain sexual health and prevent impotence! According to experts, a brisk 4 kilometer walk each day is better than Viagra.

Dr. Irwin Goldstein, from Boston University School of Medicine, stated this in a study published in the Journal of Urology. He researched 600 men, over nine years, who were suffering from ED or impotence related issues. These men took up exercising in the middle ages. This, when combined with not smoking and other factors like losing weight, helped in enhanced sexual performance. These men were able to perform better sexually without any medication.

Harvard researchers conducted another study of 31,000 men. The tests revealed that aerobic exercise helped to reduce ED or erectile dysfunction by a whopping 30% margin.

  • Improved blood flow

Another factor that attributes improved sexual health to walking is increased blood flow. Regular walking, especially fast walking, improves the circulation of blood to different parts of the body, especially the blood vessels. Considering the penile blood vessels give the first warning signs of blood diseases, walking has dual advantages. Not only does it keep the blood flowing and prevents impotence — but it also prevents heart attacks.

Fast walking helps your sex life by keeping your blood vessels clear. As a result, one can get stronger and longer erections.

  • Reduces stress

Walking is an exercise that is known to reduce stress levels too. Walking is a form of cardio exercise, which is a stress buster. Reduced levels of stress and anxiety is a known secret for better sexual health. With the mind at peace, there is no doubt that you can improve your overall sexual health too.

According to another study, aerobics activity helps to burn at least 200 calories per day. Fast walking is suggested to help clear the mind and de-stress. These activities help release endorphins and relax you, which can boost sexual performance.

So, if you are thinking of starting an exercise routine that can be followed in the long run, walking can just do the trick. However, opt for fast or brisk walking rather than a moderate pace — it has higher health benefits. Of course, you can always ask your spouse or partner to join you on the walk — dual benefits indeed!
