Hair loss or premature balding can negatively affect your quality of life. Also, the alarming fact is that nowadays, men, even in their twenties, are susceptible to hair fall, hair loss, and balding. The reason for this could be many like lifestyle, family history, medications, supplements, or even stress. But the good news is that with technological advancements, there are many painless and low scarring procedures where you can get help with your hair loss. Let us see what these technologies are and how they can help you reverse your situation:

1. Low-level Laser Therapy (LLLT): Thanks to the advancement of technology, this recent technology, which is FDA approved, allows you to restore your hair without using any pills or surgery. This non-invasive, pain-free light technology is used to stimulate your hair follicles, leading to a reduction in hair fall as well as new hair growth. It works by supplying photons to the scalp tissues, which are then absorbed by the weak tissues to encourage new hair growth. Also known as red light therapy or laser therapy, this is very popular due to its effectiveness and low invasive nature.

2. FUE Technology: This is an advancement from the previous FUI technology, which involved removing strips of hair from the back of the head, including the skin, dissect the same, and then plant them into places on your head where there is less hair or no hair. On the other hand, Follicular Unit extraction technology or FUE involves the transfer of individual hair follicles from places in your head where there is plenty to the areas affected by hair loss. One would be surprised to know that there is virtually no pain involved in the same if done under local anesthesia. Only a very mild discomfort might be felt after the surgery. The good news is that if someone doesn’t have enough hair on the head for the transplant, then the hair can be taken from the chest, back, and sometimes even from the pubic area!

3. The Choi Implanter Pen: The Choi Implanter Pen, also known as DHI, is one of the recent technological advancements when it comes to hair transplants. Looking like a pen-like instrument, this has a hollow needle at one end. Hair grains are first extracted using the hollow needle and then immediately transplanted into the scalp in areas suffering from hair loss. So how is this technique unique? This technology not only minimizes damage to the grafts and existing hair but also is a fast-paced procedure, thereby reducing the damage to the follicle as well. It is one of the most expensive methods and is different from FUE technology due to the usage of the implanter tool instead of manual implantation, as is done in FUE.

4. 3D Printing: Yes, researchers at Columbia University have recently found a way in which they can grow hair in labs using healthy hair follicles and later transplant the same on the scalp of the patient. Since hair is very resistant to grow in labs, plastic molds were designed in a way that they reproduced the natural environment that stimulated the growth of hair follicles. The name is taken from the fact that the molds were created using 3D printing technology. Since the technology is very new, it would still take time to come into work.

5 Toupee or wig: Good for a temporary type of hair loss, this helps in boosting your confidence till your hair problems don’t get sorted out. Famous Hollywood actors like John Travolta or Sean Connery are known for using toupees. So if the hair loss is causing an emotional turmoil in your life, it’s not a bad idea to befriend a wig made from either real hair or synthetic hair.
